Dear Ms Olga, I wish you the best as you move to Florida. You will be thoroughly missed here in Andover and especially by Shefali. Shefali has learned piano under you for over a year now and she has transformed as a person. I talk about you and the program all the time and the positive effect it has had on my child. Not only has Shefali developed an appreciation for music and that too classical music, she has calmed down and learnt how to be patient. Her reading and math skills have improved significantly as she is patient to sit down and learn. Shefali has enjoyed the program so much that I have not had to remind her to practice. In less than a year she is reading music, talking to me about the different chords and trying to recognize keys when she hears a song. Her joy in receiving a compliment from you is difficult to explain. You have the right balance of care and strictness that is needed to get such young children interested in music. We will all miss you here but know that you will be successful in your new place.
Regards, Sushmita Bawari Mom of Shefali Bawari (6 years old) |
We are so sorry to hear that Ms. Olga is moving out of state. My daughter Meryl joined Ms Olga’s music class in Andover last fall. Since then, every Saturday morning has been a pleasant music adventure for us. We don't want to miss any Olga's Class. Ms. Olga is a talented musician and a very responsible teacher. She knows so much about music and is always willing to share with us. Frankly speaking, as a parent, I learn a lot too. From music ABC to keyboard, songs and ensembles, history and geography of music, we truly enjoy her class. She also pays a lot of attention to details, to every child’s personality and instructs them to improve their interest in music, playing skills on instruments and performance on stage. We are very fortunate to have Ms. Olga as our music teacher and we believe you will feel the same way if you have kids in her class. Thank you, Ms. Olga! We wish you another success in your future music teaching endeavors!

My son had an excellent introduction to piano with Ms. Olga. He began playing at 4 years old and she was his instructor for the next year and a half. My son made significant progress during that time and always looked forward to her classes. She always had control of the classroom which made it easy for my child to learn. I really appreciated that. My son respected her and, as a result, he also learned respect for piano and music.
At the same time, however, Ms. Olga provided positive reinforcement for my child and made sure he knew when he was playing correctly. While Ms. Olga was required to follow the piano curriculum, she was also receptive to the interests and needs of class. If they enjoyed playing a particular piece or wanted to listen to a certain song, she would accommodate those requests. This made it fun for my son. My family will miss Ms. Olga. We couldn’t have asked for our son to have a better foundation and introduction to the piano. -- Meg Bennett |

A few years ago, I was facing a developmental challenge for my son, Ethan Nguyen. At the age of five, he was lacking patience and focus in comparison to his peers. Our family therapist recommended music therapy as a passage to develop his attention span and cognitive skills. It was then that I stumbled upon Ms. Olga in the search for a unique teaching style teacher for our special needs child. I would say it wasn’t an easy search, and we were so lucky to find Ethan and Ms. Olga worked so well together in private and group piano lessons.
Ms. Olga was patient and detailed oriented. Our son enjoyed every moment he spent in the classroom. He developed the passion for music and was looking forward to performing at every recital. Ms. Olga was very supportive and believed in Ethan's ability to conquer his deficiencies. She gave him small goals to work toward and rewarded him when he did well. The positive reinforcement approach was very effective at keeping Ethan interested in learning. Besides the joy of music, Ethan also learned music theory such as Italian terminology, notes, and rhythm. When Ethan finished his lesson, he would continue to sing in the car all the way home. Observing our son's enthusiasm for music is a priceless experience and further reinforces that our decision to select Ms. Olga was the right choice.
Unlike traditional music lessons, Ms. Olga invited me to sit in every session to learn and to observe so I can assist Ethan with practicing at home. Ms. Olga used children's imagination to describe music melody. To teach beat, she made Ethan march up and down the classroom at different pace. She encouraged Ethan to explore the beauty of music and often collaborated with him in ensembles. In brief, it is an honor to have Ms. Olga not only as a music teacher but also a friend to our family. We respect Ms. Olga for many of her qualities but most of all for the ability to connect with her students and customize their piano lessons according to their strengths. Thanks to Ms. Olga, Ethan has made tremendous progress in his music learning and self-confidence.
It is with great pleasure to recommend Ms. Olga as a piano teacher, and I am envious of her future students who can experience her influence for passion and love of music firsthand. I am certain you will find the experience fun and rewarding.
Warmest regards,
Hathi Nguyen

It is sad to hear that you will no longer teach at Andover’s branch next session. I want to thank you for all the effort, time and energy you spent during these 2 seasons with Niki. She has started learning piano with you and she has progressed so much that I never expected. I, even have learnt so many things from you just by sitting in the class and listening. It’s amazing how a teacher can make such a big influence in the way a child learns and observes the subject: She plays piano but she also talks about how a piece of music that she hears in “La minor” or how light she has to play “Gypsy dance” or how elegant “Gavotte” needs to be played as her fingers are dancing gavotte! She learnt that all from you.
She enjoys music, which is all I want her to feel playing piano. Sometimes when she is building Lego or drawing I can hear her humming the notes in the “solfège” part of her class. Thank you Ms. Olga by showing her that music is not just notes that need to be played but it has heart and soul and it can connect us to each other and life. Thank you for teaching Niki the joy and beauty of music. Regards, Mariam |
My daughter is 10 years old and has had 4 different piano instructors in the past 4 years. Ms. Olga is by far the most passionate, dedicated, and talented teacher. My daughter has excelled the most with Ms. Olga within the first few months compared to her previous instructors. I wanted my daughter to be challenged while having fun, and Ms. Olga provided that. We have been so fortunate to have her. She kept my daughter progressing while increasing her love of music. I saw a significant difference in the way my daughter plays piano. It's not a chore to play the piano anymore. Her joy and passion shows when she's on the piano.
Thank you, Ms. Olga! It will be hard to find your replacement. Kaylie has expressed how much she'll miss you, and we are both so grateful of the time you spent with her. Sincerely, Leleigh Morales, Kaylie's mom |
Thank you for a wonderful year of piano lessons for Daphne. We are sad to see you leave but hope you will find great success at your next destination.
Daphne attended one year of Yamaha lessons with another teacher prior to meeting Ms.Olga. Upon meeting Ms.Olga, Daphne became immediately interested in pursuing private piano lessons. Ms.Olga teaches fun & modern as well as classical songs - introducing Daphne to all genres. She mixes pieces that are at-level and challenging - which keeps a 6 year old dedicated to playing but also helps her grow. Her teaching style is fun, thoughtful and sincere to help children excel and develop musically. She understands the child's potential and cultivates that - knowing when to push and when to hold back. In one year with Ms. Olga, Daphne has flourished beyond expectations. Ms. Olga has instilled in Daphne a keen interest in music. Thank you, Hochan |
I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Olga Gorbounova. I had the pleasure of getting to know Olga over the past year through the Real School of Music in Andover, MA, while she was the Yamaha Music instructor for my seven year-old daughter.
From my perspective, Olga is a consistent and effective teacher, and I appreciated her strong encouragement to the students to sing solfège while learning to play the keyboard. In addition, by emphasizing both solo and ensemble playing, Olga created a cohesive group of young musicians. My daughter has always enjoyed music, playing instruments and singing, but she knew nothing about piano before starting with Olga. Only nine months later, she can play a variety of songs with both hands at a good tempo and with enthusiasm and focus. We are delighted to see her confidence and love of music expand under the guidance of Olga! Based on this experience over the last year, I would recommend Olga for a similar position with children of this age. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. Sincerely, Juliet Correll Wright |
Olga Gorbounova has been a wonderful piano teacher for my 10 years old daughter, Maxime. Olga is a dedicated musician and teacher, with a lot of passion and responsibility. Her teaching style is the perfect balance of friendly and encouraging; she makes my daughter feel so comfortable during a whole one hour lesson. Olga always made learning piano fun and interesting for Maxime, that she is looking forward to her piano lesson each week.
Maxime said :" Olga is the best teacher I ever had!" We are sad that you have to move. Thank you for everything! Maxime said: "Olga is always on time. Olga always tries to make piano playing fun! Olga is the best teacher I ever had! She is very nice! Sometimes she gets serious but in a nice way."
